moving image enthusiast

After blogging and watching a ton of movies, I can say that I am a movie addict.
WAIT. Is that the right term? Movie addict?

This made me think. What is the right term for someone who just loves watching movies; may it be sci-fi, horror, drama, comedy, or a chick flick.

After searching for hours on the perfect term for someone who loves popping some popcorn and gluing their eyes on the big screen for that wonderfully made (and beautifully crafted) films of their favorite (and sometimes not so favorite) movie stars, I gave up and looked for a movie guide on the next movies to die for! Ha-ha… just kiddin’!

I came upon a site which offered an answer to my fairly unanswered question. Here is a list of what readers think of the answer is and my comments.

“Film buff” – This term can pass as “okay”; but, not as perfect as the others may be. Film- of course, the movie. Buff? Someone who goes to the gym frequently? After some thought, I consulted a thesaurus and looked for synonyms for this word. Buff! A fan, enthusiast, admirer, expert, connoisseur or aficionado. This term passes!

“Movie Junkie”- why would I put myself as a “junk”? The term portrays a bad image. Bad image is not good. Ha-ha.

“Movie Maniac” – Hmmm… creative but still lacks something.

“Movieholic” – hmmm… this term is quite nice! It’s a term for a “movie lover”. NICE! (like an alcoholic! Ha-ha)

“Film fanatic” – for me, this is so-so.

“Movie critic” – I am not that serious on criticizing a movie! (Well, sometimes!)

“Movie buff” – well, same as the “film buff”

“Filmophile” – I don’t quite get this. What is this?

Apparently, there is a correct term for a movie lover like me! It is a “moving image enthusiast”. Well, it sounds intellectual but fun at the same time!

So, for “moving image enthusiasts” out there like me, keep watching those movies of your favorite celebrities! (And avoid piracy, okay?)

mothers beware!

Mothers beware. Your husband might be into your very young babysitter!

Babysitting can be tiresome sometimes but if you are earning tons of money from it, then what the heck!

Shirley Lyner (played by Katherine Waterston) is a typical high school teenager who wants to earn a few more bucks to be able to send herself to college. She wants to keep everything in order, just like every other teenage girl who wants everything in place.

Michael Beltran, on the other hand, is a worn-out father of two young kids and is now unhappy with the career path he’s taking. Clearly, his life lacks the exhilaration everyone craves for every single day.

As the story goes, Shirley babysits Michael’s two children. After a day of doing her job, Shirley gets a ride home from his boss, Michael. But, things had gone terribly wrong when Michael and Shirley share a kiss. This gives them the go signal to go crazy over the situation. This also led for Michael to overpay her to “compensate” for what he did.

One thing led to another. In no time, Shirley’s friends are also “babysitting” for other middle-aged men. This situation soon led to problems regarding greed, jealousy, and envy. Shirley’s and Michael’s world began to be ransacked with problems and difficult situations.

This movie promises a bundle of laughs, overly sexy scenes, and much more! A definite must see!

the point of deception

Who would have thought that going into a sex club would put you into sooooo much trouble! Hotties Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor grace the big screen in this sexy and sultry thriller movie.

Basically, the story goes when an outgoing lawyer, Wyatt Bose (played by Hugh Jackman) introduces an underground sex club known as “The List” to his newly found friend in the person of a lonely audito0r, Jonathan McQuarry (played by Ewan McGregor). Problem strikes when the woman Jonathan is seeing suddenly disappears without a trace. Plus, to top that, he was also included in a heist.

The character played by Ewan McGregor is subtle than him in millions of ways. First off, he plays an insecure and unsociable guy which is in total contrast to characters he had played in the past. (Insert here his Moulin Rouge character). Jonathan is said to be doomed, ready to be swallowed by work and life.

On the other hand, Hugh Jackman’s character Attorney Wyatt Bose, is the very aggressive type. (I can say that this is perfect for this hunky guy!) His aggressiveness as Wolverine is subtly shown in his character. Wyatt is oozing with self-confidence and charm. Every man wants to be like him.

Their friendship bloomed one day between drug smokes. Wyatt introduced Jonathan to the very exclusive The List where he met “S” (played by Michelle Williams). This is where the confusion and thriller scenes start.

With a certified talented cast, Deception is a must see!

baby maker!

Graded as B- by critics, Baby Mama is one hilarious movie!

Baby Mama stars two of the best sitcom comediennes in the television industry. And now, their hilarious antics and over-the-top acting brings them together in this funny movie.

Kate (played by Tina Fey) is a successful 37 year old single woman. She is independent. She is career driven. She has a successful life. That’s all a woman can ask for, right? Wrong.

Kate’s success cannot compensate her loneliness. To be able to overcome this isolation she plans to have a baby of her own. But, she did not want to give up her successful career so she employs a substitute mother (played by Amy Poehler) who will bear the child for her. The thing is, the one Kate hired is so “slap-happy” and overly-aggressive that this became the worst and the best time of her life.

Critics grade this movie as B- because of its ala sitcom setting and downright flat jokes. But, the superb acting of the two comediennes gave this new movie a boost to stardom.

This movie mixes an extraordinary dose of clumsiness and female jokes and cleverness.

Directed and written by Michael McCullers, the movie is comparable to a dumb blonde. But nevertheless, their funny antics and hilarious comments will leave you laughing so hard on the floor.

This movie is one of the few which are in fact genuinely humorous and witty.

I want Wanted!

After seeing the cast list and trailer of the new movie “Wanted”, all I can think about was “wow”!

Directed by Timbor Bekmambetoy and written by Michael Brandt, Chris Morgan and Derek Haas, this movie is based on the famous graphic novel written by Mark Millar. With a star-studded cast led by James McAvoy, playing the lead role Wesley Gibson, Wanted is highly anticipated by many. (Including me!)

Wanted is about a regular normal office worker named Wesley Gibson (played by the hottie James McAvoy) finding himself in the whirlwind of events suddenly uprooted when his estranged father dies. He finds out that he has abilities which he never imagined he had before after the sexy and lustrous agent named Fox (played by Angelina Jolie) lured him into going and training with her and a pool of assassins.

Apparently, Wesley’s father was included in the pool of assassins set to reverse evil in the city. And, Wesley is set to finish his father’s killing business. As his training goes, he realizes his abilities and goes on to help Fox and her team kill villains.

After learning so much from the team, he realized that the pool of assassins was really killing for their own needs and not to promote justice.

Wesley now must choose on what path he must take—continue on being an assassin or live a normal regular life.

With a star-studded cast starring James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, and Thomas Kretschmann, Wanted is definitely on my must watch list!

It is definitely action-packed and full of adventure! Plus, seeing Angelina doing what she does best is definitely a must see!

ironman

Without a doubt, everyone loves superheroes. Kids, teens, adults, male, female… Everybody has their own superhero.

Before Marvel and DC superheroes were only made available through comics and cartoons. Nowadays, a variety of superheroes are hitting the silver screen. No wonder why people are so ecstatic about watching their childhood superheroes in action!

From the famous superheroes such as Superman, Spiderman, Batman, the Fantastic 4, and X-men to new superheroes like the Incredibles, most of these movies were a box office hit which earned great reviews from its viewers. Due to the great success of the recent superhero movies, more and more film creators try to create life into mere childhood dreams. Ironman is no different.

The movie adaptation of Marvel’s superhero Ironman will hit the cinemas on May 2, 2008. It will star Robert Downy Jr. as Tony Stark a.k.a. Ironman. The plot revolves around Tony Stark being held captive by criminals and forced to build a destructive weapon that would threaten the safety of the people. Instead of building the weapon, he constructs himself a powerful suit of armor and fights his way through imprisonment. Upon seeing the evil in the world and with the creation of his armor, Tony Stark aims to protect the world from people that threaten it and thus Ironman was born.

The trailer of Ironman really catches my attention. Its scenes are so captivating and interesting. It makes me drool over and want to see the movie. The scenes and special effects shown in the trailer are outstanding. And Robert Downy Jr. is perfect for the lead role! I am sure the movie will be as good as or even better than what the trailer presents.

Can’t wait!

Kutcher-Diaz team-up

What happens in Vegas… stays in Vegas! Or so we thought…

Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher both star in this romantic comedy on finding love against all odds. Two very different persons, one finding refuge after being dumped by her fiancĂ© and the other trying to find himself, discover themselves in the hands of bad luck. They woke up in a Vegas hotel room after having a really bad hangover from too much partying the night before. Not only that, they unexpectedly found themselves wearing wedding rings! They got married while drunk! (That’s so unlikely in Vegas *rolls eyes*…)

After all, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas right?

Wrong.

They have to bring with them their unplanned wedding vows to the city after one won $3 million on a slot machine using the quarter of the other.

After all this mess, they have to deal with their unexpected spouse, each planning schemes on each other to be able to bag home the entire pot money. Along the way, surprisingly, they fall madly in love with each other. (Which is so predictable in a Hollywood movie like this.. but great anyways!)

What Happens in Vegas will definitely bring a hearty laughs to fans! The team-up between perfect comedians Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz will surely be a hit. Although, for some people, their over the top acting can be downright annoying sometimes, let us give them the credit that they deserve. Die hard fans of Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher and all the other viewers will certainly get their penny’s worth. Even watching the trailer makes me laugh so hard!

I cannot wait for the movie to hit the big screen!

suspense horror film about… strippers!

A certified sex symbol starred in a suspense horror film about… strippers!

Jenna Jameson and Robert Englund stars in this sensual, suspenseful and surprisingly hilarious movie about a fatal chemo disease set by a US government agency. This lethal virus can cause the dead to rise and be alive (or be a zombie) once again. Unluckily, the deadly virus gets to penetrate in an underground strip club where a beautiful stripper (played by Jenna Jameson) was infected and turns into a flesh-eating, sexy-dancing stripper monstrosity! This made the club and her pretty famous which led to the jealousy of her fellow strippers.

This movie is heaven for all men out there! First of all, it’s a horror movie and second, there are a handful of sexy strippers! The combination of sex and gory scenes makes this stripper movie a hit. Who would have thought that a naked dead person can be as sexy as those in Zombie Strippers.

Packed with a sexy cast and an R-rating, Zombie Strippers is definitely so deadly and sexy!

Incredible!

"I don't want to control it! I want to stop it!"

Who would not want to stop it? If a very strong green monster is taking over your body—your life—what would you do?

This super hero movie promises action packed cuts and memorable scenes perfect for the enjoyment of every member of the family.

Incredible Hulk is about the struggle of an American scientist, Bruce Banner (played by the hunky and handsome Edward Norton) in his quest to find a cure to the monstrosity trying to invade his life and body. His cells were poisoned by gamma radiation which led him to uncontrollable alter ego (looks like another crazy person in you!). For him, we wanted to live a normal life and stop whatever is invading his body. All the while, he must run for his life from General Thunderbolt Ross (played by William Hurt), an obsessed US military who has the eye to kill the green monster. The whole US army is looking for him which made his life long dream to change his life a struggle. To top all of these, there emerged the Abomination (played by Tim Roth), also a gamma-radiated monster, who tries to kill The Hulk as well.

This upcoming Marvel character movie, The Incredible Hulk, promises a well crafted movie on the struggle of a man in finding ways to be normal again. This movie will surely be a hit not only for kids but for adults as well. It does not only promise superb action scenes but also a well developed story which will surely capture the hearts of its viewers.

As I watched the trailer of this film, it gave me goosebumps. For me, Edward Norton is perfect for the part! (Though I think he is still to thin for the part)

Can’t wait to see The Incredible Hulk on the big screen!

not another croc movie!

Not another croc movie!

From the makers of “Wolf Creek” comes another movie featuring a scary beast—a crocodile.

Michael Vartan stars in this another crocodile movie as Pete McKell, an American travel writer in the quest of covering the vast land and water of the Australian outback. Leading him in his journey-slash-adventure is a hot and sexy tour guide, Kate (played by Radha Mitchell). They were at first not in good terms but as the day progress; Pete began to see Kate as someone he can deal with romantically. But, as any crocodile movie, their journey as cut short when they found out that a scary giant crocodile is after them. They found themselves trying to hold on for their dear lives.

The group found themselves being attacked by a rogue crocodile after venturing on an uncharted terrain. With no other choice but to go ashore on a mud island, they realized that they are trapped in the den of a beast ready to devour his freshly caught victims. As each of their plans to be able to stay alive fail, their hope of surviving is slowly diminishing leaving them to encounter the scary and giant beast face to face.

This film tackles the struggle of a group of tourists who tries to battle it out with a fierce beast. Though there are already a lot of croc films in the movie scene, I think that this movie offers something else that others do not. This will surely give viewers the creeps and able them to gain respect (or even fear) for the crocodiles alive.

Lesson learned: crocodiles can be mean!

My ExBoyfriend's Wedding

From the creator of “Latter Days” and writer of “Sweet Home Alabama” comes a romantic comedy film which will surely be a hit!

Imagine the shock of Matt (played by the most eligible bachelor in 2007, Philipp Karner) when he founds out that his former boyfriend (YES! You read it right a BOYfriend) is getting married to a GIRL. Ryan (played by James O’Shea) is marrying a confident and beautiful woman, Alex (played by Tori Spelling).

He decided to go back to the town where Ryan and Alex lives in the hopes that he can get is former love back. While Matt is trying to steal away Ryan from his fiancĂ©, Alex is beginning to like Matt. Ryan, on the other hand, is trying to forget about what he feels for Matt and focuses more on his new girl and wedding. For Ryan, his “thing” for Matt will always only be mere high school love. For Matt, on the other hand, he is still in love with his bestfriend-turned-exboyfriend. Matt must be able to handle all of these plus much more in this romantic comedy film.

This movie is the gay version of “My Bestfriend’s Wedding” but it’s quirkier and much more fun! The story is quite exceptional and intriguing. Its witty, funny and sensual script will surely make everyone laugh out loud and its romantic story will let everyone fall in love with it. It will surely make a statement on going beyond the actual borders of sexuality, relationships and love and making a say for oneself.

Patrick Dempsey as a Maid of Honor? Why not!

Another “best friends-turned-lovers” movie is hitting the big screen!

Patrick Dempsey a.k.a McDreamy in the much talked about television series, Grey’s Anatomy, stars in another comedy-romance film –Made of Honor. Tom (played by Patrick Dempsey) is a very hot and successful bachelor in the city. He has the luck and charm to woo equally hot and sexy women in his arms. Hannah (played by the sexy and charming Michelle Monaghan), on the other hand, is Tom’s best friend.

Tom did not realize that he would eventually lose Hannah. When Hannah goes on to a trip overseas, Tom realized how important his best friend is in his life. No other woman can make him smile like he does when he’s with his best friend. The catch is, Hannah plans to marry a rich and sexy Scotsman she met during her business trip in Scotland. This left Tom pretty devastated and plans to bring back Hannah to his life by being the Maid of Honor in Hannah’s wedding and tries to win her heart once again.

I hope that it’s not another wedding movie. On second thought, it’s a movie with Patrick Dempsey in it! It couldn’t get any better than that.

After watching the trailer of Made of Honor, there was a smile plastered on my face. I expect this film will be one of those feel good movies which will allow you to walk out of the cinema with a smile on your face.

I cannot wait to watch this comedy film about love and friendship!
I hope Hannah and Tom end up together!

Heee-yah!

Forbidden Kingdom

Want to see an action packed movie? Here it is! It’s coming in theaters this week!
This is the first movie where Jackie Chan and Jet Li teams up!

Michael Angarano stars as in this movie wherein he plays a Kung Fu-obsessed teenager, Jason Williams. His obsession takes him to a wild journey. When he held a Chinese staff in an antique store, he was brought back to the past. There he met Lu Yan (played by Jackie Chan), Silent Monk (played by Jet Li) and Golden Sparrow (played by Crystal Liu Yi Fei). Jason was then trained to be able to return the Chinese staff to the Monkey King. It must be full of action cuts and superb martial arts scenes!

This film must be the bomb! Jackie Chan and Jet Li alone are two of the greatest martial artists in the world. It must be thrilling to watch both martial artists and actors in the same film! Plus, who would be able to forget the superb acting of Michael Angarano in his previous films like Sky High.

Can’t wait for it to hit the big screen! I will definitely watch it!

Forget and Regret

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is from the makers of the hit comedy movies, 40 year old virgin and Knocked Up. Here is another comedy movie which will leave you laughing out loud!

Peter Bretter (played by Jason Segel) was a romantic guy. (Well, not so much now.) He used to date Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell), the hot television star in Crime Scene: Scene of the Crime television series. Peter and Sarah just recently broke up when Sarah dumped Peter for another guy. Sarah is coping with this kind of situation too well with his recent boyfriend and rocker dude, Aldous Snow (played by Russel Brand). Peter, on the other hand, is taking this situation terribly. He is definitely heartbroken alright!

Peter took his broken heart to Hawaii where he plans to find an inspiration to build another path in life—without Sarah, that is. Imagine his horror when he finds out that Sarah and his current enemy, rocker Aldous is at the same Hawaii hotel where Peter currently stays in. Witness how Peter tries to forget what he feels for his ex-girlfriend Sarah Marshall through going on funny dates with a sexy hotel employee. (played by Mila Kunis)

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is yet another hilarious romantic comedy to hit the big screen these coming weeks!

For those who had their hearts broken in half by someone treacherous enough to do it, I hope that this is another movie to leave you laughing your hearts out and crying for the last time! Can’t wait to watch it! :)

Another Harold and Kumar movie!

It has been quite some time now when we last saw the tandem of John Cho and Kal Penn in the big screen. These two superb comedians once starred in the movie “Harold and Kumar goes to White Castle”. And now, their humorous antics, racist dialogues and hilarious facial expressions bring us to another comedy film, Harold and Kumar escapes from Guantanamo Bay.

Harold and Kumar (John Cho and Kal Penn), the two best buds, wanted to have yet another great time at the land of smokes (cigarette smoke, that is), Amsterdam. However, their dream of a fun-filled vacation full of beer bars and cigarette smokes was cut short when they were mistaken for terrorists at the airplane their in. Directed and written by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, witness how they try to get out of their sticky situation in this hilarious movie starring two of the wackiest comedians in the planet.

Can’t wait for this movie! It is yet another wacky and crazy film! I really like John and Kal’s tandem. For two persons coming from two very different races, their chemistry (not the love team chemistry!) on screen is great! Though there isn’t much of a story, I believe that it is still a good laugh-out-loud movie to watch. I hope that this is better than the first installment of the movie! If that is true, then it is worth it to pop some popcorn because the first one left me laughing so hard rather than overworking my brain cells too much.

You don’t have to wear your thinking cap with Harold and Kumar goes to White Castle. It is just a plain comedy movie! And if this one, Harold and Kumar escapes from Guantanamo Bay, is just like the first one, then the viewers must get ready for a funny thrilling ride of their life!

Can’t wait!

High School Musical

Disney is at it again! High School Musical, another Disney live film, is not like any other teen movie. It is a musical show! High School Musical is, I can say, the most commercialized live Disney flick. There are 2 installments (and counting! one of which was still in progress), various versions of the film (dance, sing-a-long, and trivia), and even Disneyland shows! Kids and tweeners gladly accepted this teen “musical” show.

High School Musical is all about going beyond what is the status quo. The story revolves on the team-up of two very different teens. Gabriella Montez (played by Vanessa Hudgens) is a very smart high school teen who just moved to the city where Troy Bolton (played by Zac Efron) lives. Troy, on the other hand, is the star of the wild cats basketball team. He is the not so typical basketball player since he loves to sing too (which is totally embarrassing according to Troy’s dad, who also coaches the wild cats basketball team). Their “love” brought them to the stage and star the musical show of their school.

It is not a typical teen movie since, for the most part, the characters suddenly bursts into songs and dances. Though their singing and dancing is not at least par with the movie Grease, I still commend the actors since their songs and dances are actually catchy. Every kid on our block knows their songs and dance moves!

The movie in general was intended for kids and tweeners since the story for me was a little shallow. But then again, High School Musical is still worth to watch if you don’t have something better to do at home. :)

the Pacifier: Vin Diesel outside his box

When you're down and low, lower than the floor, And you feel like you ain't got a chance. Bom, bom, bom, Don't make a move till you're in the groove And do the Peter Panda Dance. *clap clap* Just hop three times like a kangaroo, Side-step twice just like those crabs do. Three steps forward, one step back. Quick like a turtle, lie on your back! Roll like a log till you can't roll no more!' Better jump up quick like there ain't no floor. Hold your breath, and slide to the left'. And that's the Peter, I swear that's the Peter, That's the Peter Panda Dance! -- Shane Wolfe from The Pacifier (quote from IMDB.com)

After watching the Disney film, The Pacifier, starring Mr. Vin Diesel, I can´t help myself humming the tune of the ¨Peter Panda Dance¨. Plus, it was amusing to watch Vin Diesel, who is very muscular and manly, sing and dance like that! (And you thought Vin Diesel was only for hard action films!)

The Pacifier is a typical family movie – with a little twist. It is jam packed with action cuts and funny antics by the Plummer kids and Shane Wolfe (Vin Diesel, himself). Vin Diesel showed his expertise in crime-fighting action scenes. He is obviously superb in this kind of field. He also has the serious vibe which definitely showed in his acting!

What I don´t like about its story is the ¨love team¨ between the principal and Shane. It seems it was there just to lengthen the plot. This part of the story was not even developed that much.

Then again, it´s still amusing to watch the movie It´s fun to see Vin Diesel act outside his ¨action movie boundaries¨. Watching The Pacifier will leave you humming the Peter Panda tune for days and feeling good inside. It is the perfect movie to watch if you don´t have something better to do at home.

On Loving and Living

If Only is a movie giving life to the saying ¨If only I could turn back time¨. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Paul Nicholls stars in this drama movie which shows that anyone can die at the blink of an eye. No one can stop death. But no one can stop someone from loving...

Samantha Andrews (Jennifer Love Hewitt) is an American studying in a music school in London. She lives with her British boyfriend, Ian Wyndham, who is busy all the time. Samantha is the typical enthusiastic and perky American who just wants to have fun and live life. Ian, on the other hand, is the mysterious type. He is focused on his career more than anything else-- not even Samantha. The first half of the film takes us on a typical day of Samantha and Ian. However, at the end of the day, fate separated Samantha and Ian apart when Sam dies on a car accident. Ian was disheartened by the situation. The next day, Ian found himself on the same situation, everything happening all over again. He was given another chance to redo all of his mistakes! But then again, found himself failing to defy his and Samantha´s fate. Every ¨premonition¨ still comes true. At the end of the day, Ian was able to express how he really feels. He was able to appreciate Samantha, as what the taxi driver would like him to do. The end of the movie showed an exciting twist on the story. Ian sacrificed his life for Samantha and was able to spare her life. (Isn´t that the essence of love? -- sacrifice.)

¨I have to tell you this and you need to hear it. I loved you since I met you, but I wouldn't allow myself to truly feel it until today. I was always thinking ahead, making decisions soaked with fear... Today, because of you... what I learned from you; every choice I made was different and my life has completely changed... and I've learned that if you do that, then you're living your life fully... it doesn't matter if you have five minutes or fifty years. Samantha if not for today, if not for you I would never have known love at all... So thank you for being the person who taught me to love... and to be love.¨ -- Ian Wyndham*

This movie is a certified tear-jerker! Though the movie´s first 30 minutes was a little dull, the movie´s twist was superb and will keep your eyes glued on the screen. Their acting was average but convincing enough to leave you crying. The cinematography, I can say, was exquisite! This movie will surely inspire you to love and be loved!

Truth about now

Feeling a lot hot lately? Well, it is summer alright! But, the heat is just too hot to bear. One will definitely need more than 8 glasses of water to be able to resist being dehydrated. I was sweating even though I am only watching TV with the electric fan standing directly at me. 35 degrees Celsius is just too high to bear.

Whew! The effects of glabal warming.

The term ¨global warming¨ may sound a bit too commercialized, with the media publicizing too much of it (and exaggerating about it!). Well, I think, the media needs to overstate everything about it so that people would be scared that much. There should be more movies or documentary films tackling about the drastic effects of global warming to the world.

An Inconvenient Truth is a very good (and recent) example of that.

An Inconvenient Truth is a movie-slash-documentary film made to show the world what is truly happening to our planet nowadays. Various statistics were shown throughout the film which proves that our planet Earth is completely deteriorating and needs a lot of help from the humans. After years of living (and polluting) the environment, the humans are experiencing the wrath of too much heat or too cold weather. Earth is experiencing a lot of problems because of humans’ fault. The film wants to show that people should act now if they wanted their children to live.

Its title fits the plot perfectly. It is inconvenient since it may hinder the work (or economy) of a country. (Who would buy an organic cleaner if it is much expensive than a chemically-based cleaner? Both does the same task and their efficacy may be at par.) However, it is also the truth. Planet Earth is completely deteriorating.

An Inconvenient Truth is a perfect film nowadays to show to the people that protecting the environment will do a lot of wonders. This film is definitely an eye opener to the many who are continuously putting the environment into danger.

So, the next time you´re buying styrofoam, think of what it can do to the environment.

Super man

Everybody has his or her own Superman. He or she may be parent, a guardian, a friend, or a lover. Whoever he (or she) may be, he (or she) must be really special to be a Superman (or Superwoman)! And the world has a superhero in the persona of Superman!

So, why am I still attached to a movie shown ages ago?

It was because I kept seeing the movie Superman on HBO for these past few days. (3 consecutive days to be exact). I still cannot say why I cannot change the channel despite the fact that I already saw the movie 6 times. What I can say is that I really fell in love with the movie (and the actor who played the lead role, Brandon Routh). Don’t you think Brandon is so perfect for the part? J

Thus, despite good reviews, Superman Returns is said to be “just a modern version” of the Superman movie shown in the past. Well, I haven’t seen the old version of the film so I can’t really compare those two.

For me, the creators of Superman really did a great job in making the movie a reality. I can say that their interpretation of the story and the grand effects (The scenery was majestic!) matched flawlessly. Plus, Brandon Routh looks stunning in the tight and buff Superman costume! J I applaud the actors and actresses who portrayed the characters in the movie. Lex Luther was so scary and funny at the same time. Kate Bosworth, who played the role Lois Lane, was so beautiful. Their acting, in general, was so convincing that I cried for most parts of the movie.

Superman Returns is a definite “must saw” movie!

Reflections on Finding My Way Back Into Love

The movie Music and Lyrics never fail to put a smile on my face. Its plot is simple and heart-warming as two totally different persons was able to collaborate and write a beautiful love song, ¨Way Back Into Love¨.

Music and Lyrics is a romantic-comedy flick featuring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore as its lead actors. Alex Fletcher, played by hunky Hugh Grant, who was once a 80´s pop idol, is now a ¨Highschool reunion night singer¨. He met Sophie Fisher, played by Drew Barrymore, when he was pressured to do a song for a pop teen sensation Cora Corman, played by Haley Bennett, in order to give his career a much needed boost. Sophie turns out to be a ¨natural songwriter¨ when she helped Alex produce yet another hit song which captured the hearts of many. Their love blossomed as they slowly combine music and lyrics together. Their love enabled them to produce a heart-warming song.

What I like about this film is its witty and amusing funny lines. The characters are funny without trying so hard. It is light and romantic at the same time. Plus, the movie made me realize that two different persons can really make wonderful music together.

I really like their song ¨Way Back Into Love¨ maybe because I really was attached to the lyrics. I find the lyrics very close to my situation back then.

All I want to do is find a way back into love.
I can't make it through without a way back into love.
And if I open my heart again,
I guess I'm hoping you'll be there for me in the end!

In the end, I did found love. I found my way back into love. I did opened my heart and found that certain person still caring for me, still there for me. I really love the movie since I can relate to its story. I was inspired by it.

There should be more movies like this one. People, in the end, should be able to relate to the movies produced. :)

My top 5 all time Favorite Disney Animated Flick

Watching a movie made by Disney never fails to bring a smile on my face. Believe me; all of their movies easily capture the hearts of its viewers – both kids and adults.

Here is a list of my top 5 all time favorite Disney flick.

Finding Nemo – This oh-so-cute movie stars Marlon (father) and Dory (Marlon’s new friend) as they trek the deep and dangerous sea in search of Marlon’s lost son, Nemo. The two ended up finding (and saving) Nemo and being the best of friends. The creators of Finding Nemo were able to capture the beauty of the sea impeccably.

Lilo and Stitch – Ohana means family. Family means no one is left behind. This movie is about the importance of family and friendship. Lilo ended up staying with her sister (and not on a foster home) and Stitch became a part of Lilo’s family. This movie made me realize the importance of my sisters in my life. They will indeed be an important part of my life.

Mulan – Even a woman can save the day! (And China, for that matter) This movie features ultimate girl power. Girls can also kick some butt! (And beat the Hans!)

The Fox and the Hound – This classic film is about the story of the camaraderie of two unlikely friends, a fox and a hound. They were able to set aside their dissimilarities and build up trust. Despite their differences; a lasting friendship and trust was able to bloom in between them.

And my number 1 pick is… (Drum roll please…)
Treasure Planet – This Disney movie tackles the adventure (and misadventures) of a young lad as he proves himself a worthy person. This story follows the journey of Jim Hawkins as he slowly reaches his dreams of becoming rich (both in heart and wealth). Treasure Planet is an ultimate tear-jerker!

Disney films never fail to bring out the kid in me. Their films will always be on my must-see movies list. I can’t wait for the next Disney film!

The Da Vinci controversy

Bummer. I still haven’t watched Step Up 2. My new job is keeping me busy this past few days and I cannot even find time to watch the local news. (So, what is happening to our country right now? Clueless much… haha. I really need to get updated.)

Well, after some time and after hours of browsing through a lot of movie guides, I stumbled upon a familiar movie title, The Da Vinci Code. The book, where the story of the movie was from, is my all time favorite! There was even a time I worshipped Dan Brown for it! (well, I am exaggerating! But you get my point!)

Anyways, after some thought, I viewed some websites featuring my all time favorite book-turned-movie by Dan Brown, The Da Vinci Code. It is not shocking that people are scrutinizing every bit of its story because of its controversial issues regarding the Church. At one point, I was beginning to believe what is written in the book. But my dad was firm in saying that what was written was all fiction written based from facts. (Irony eh?) Its all FICTION.

Why do people scrutinize something which is not even real? Even though the plot presented in the film (and book) are all based in facts, all of the scenes were written according to how Dan Brown sees things. It is his mind telling the story and not a true story filmed as a documentary film like the ones shown in Discovery Channel. The story came from Dan Brown’s heart. It is all FICTION. (Now I am getting angry. Haha... Okay, now I calmed down.)

Well, after reflecting on the matter, I realized that movies are a way for writers to express how they feel and to show everyone their own wacky world. It is their own story they are sharing to the world (and at times, a part of who they really are). It is the writer’s (and movie crew) baby. It is their work of art.

And if critics are scrutinizing a movie, it is like stabbing another person’s dream. It is upsetting.

*wow* From Da Vinci Code to writer’s expressions to letting others down… ha-ha.

Stepping it up the 2nd time around

Should I watch Step Up 2?

I really loved its predecessor Step Up, a movie featuring the hunky and oh-so-talented Channing Tatum. It has a little bit of highschool-ish drama of a rich girl-poor boy kind of plot. It does not require a lot of mental power to decipher whether or not the poor “prince” will end up with the rich and beautiful “princess” (Everyone knows they will end up together eventually and they did in this movie ha-ha). It is a plain feel-good movie. It has nothing new in its plot.

Step Up is not just an ordinary chick flick. It is a dance flick. The end scene features a really interesting dance routine mixing ballet and hip hop together. What makes Step Up different from other flicks is its main feature is not just the plot but an extravagant showcase of talent from its actors.

Now, the makers of Step Up made an installment featuring a new cast and new moves—Step Up 2. I haven’t watched the film yet but I am looking forward to. That did not stop me from searching the internet about critics’ reviews on the movie.

It was not a shocker that critics gave it a mix review—some liking it, some giving it a thumbs down. It is obviously not as good as the plot of Da Vinci Code or Babel; but its dance routine may be impeccable than its predecessor. (Believe me, Step Up’s dance routines was so good I was watching with my eyes wide open in awe.)

So now, should I still watch Step Up 2?

I should.

I should give it a chance. I should see this movie to check if the reviews are actually right. I really hope this movie won’t fail me.

I’ll tell you what I feel and think about it in my next entry. :)

movie madness

As I was browsing through website after website looking for the latest scoops on the best movies, I saw moviemistakes.com featuring the worst mistakes made in the big screen. Well, as an avid viewer of Hollywood’s works of art, I was pretty shocked as I read the long list of 2007 movie blunders. Topping the list was a fight scene from Spider Man 3 wherein the Terminal Tower was seen instead of a New York City landmark (FYI, Terminal Tower is located at Ohio and not New York City). I did not even recognize this error!

Well, I was smiling as I read through the long list with descriptions of movie blunders. Some of it was funny. Some of it was really minimal. Some were “unforgivable” since glimpses of cameramen were seen in the scene. What struck me the most was from HighSchool Musical 2 wherein even the boxer shorts of Zac Efron was scrutinized to the last thread. Obviously, the one who saw this movie mistake was watching very closely as a regular viewer may not even recognize or see this error.

This made me think. Were the mistakes the only things the fans go for?

The regular viewers don’t even care if the color of Zac Efron’s boxers changes or not. It is the content of the movie which paid by the avid fans. It is the story which is viewed and loved by the audience (and maybe Brad Pitt too... hehehe) and not if it is made to perfection or not. Most fans were after the plot of the movie and how good the actors were and nothing less.

On the other hand, it is still fun reading through the top movie blunders. This made me reminisce on that particular movie and laugh about the mistakes the movie crew made.
